This one day workshop is geared toward the student who is interested in achieving realistic watercolors effects. Watercolor techniques can be uncontrolled or tamed. It is through understanding paint characteristics, paper and water usage that mastery is gained over the watercolor painting process.
In this workshop you will learn about different types of watercolor paper, how to lay in a wash, how to load a brush with paint and how to control your paint with the amount of water you use. An explanation of watercolor paint characteristics such as transparency, opaqueness, graininess, and staining qualities will assist you in understanding why some colors combinations create mud and other don't. What type of brushes to use, and how water quantity affects the end result of the painting. The students will practice different painting methods before executing the above referenced painting, wording can be altered or omitted. Supply list given at registration.
