Explore the therapeutic benefits of yoga and meditation at the Creative Chateau, a place of peaceful tranquility. Using your body’s intuitive awareness Terri Meyer will guide you to practice in a mindful way that is appropriate for your body and functionality. Major emphasis will be placed on feeling good from within.
Using the principles of yoga asanas (poses), you will work with meditation, relaxation, movement and stability to begin to unlock areas of tension and explore a deeper and more peaceful way of being and moving.
Hatha yoga is a movement-based yoga that asks us to observe from within areas of our body where we feel freedom of movement and areas where we feel restricted. Working from the center of the body, you will begin to release the muscles through a sequence of gentle movements and mindfulness.
Yoga classes are moderately challenging but build gradually, so you can start right where you are. (If you have injuries or health issues that you think might prevent you from participating fully in this class, please contact your physician for guidance.)
For this class, you’ll need a yoga mat, optional pillow, and a blanket for the relaxation at the end of class.
Terri Meyer has practiced yoga for over 18 years and taught 15 years. She is the owner of the Creative Chateau is an artist and teacher. Her style of teaching is gentle, lighthearted, fun and honors the individual.

Why take a yoga class?
Yoga has many benefits for the mind and body. The gentle stretching assists in limbering up the muscles of the body to prevent muscle strains. Many of the poses uses the bodies weight to strengthen bone density. The balance poses help promote better internal balance which leads to less falls. Yoga done consistently with a sensible eating plan will result in a toned body.
How does yoga help the mind?
The mind if left unattended or unchallenged will run you. If you are in a constant state of unawareness you are powerless to change. In yoga you are taught to sit silently, breath and listen to the internal chatter. Once you start listening you become surprised by what you hear. Much the fear, worries, self esteem issues of your life will bubble to the surface. It is through this gentle awareness that you will learn to shift unproductive chatter into ones that are more in line with how you want to live your life.
Is yoga a religion?
No. At first is appears just a simple stretching class with deep breathing that assists with stress relief, but as you progress further into the benefits you will realize it is much more. The word yoga means “union”. Union of body, soul and spirit.
Do I have to be in good shape to take yoga?
No. In my classes you can start at any level. I encourage my students to do what they can and each session will become easier. I believe in listening to your own body and never pushing to a point of discomfort in any yoga pose. Some students will be naturally more flexible than others by virtue of their age and body structure. There is never a competition within the class. We are all at different levels and assist each other.
What do I need to bring to a class?
Yoga mat and a bottle of water. Wear loose comfortable clothing. Stress is optional, plan on leaving that at the class:)
Experience the benefits of Hatha Yoga with instructor Terri Meyer. This class is open to all levels of yoga students from the beginner to advanced. Hatha yoga is a slow-paced gentle stretching experience, with simple breathing exercises and seated meditation. You will learn the art of practicing mindfulness, basic asanas (yoga poses), relaxation techniques and how to de-stress your mind and body. Tools that you can use throughout your day.
