Ohio artists paint landscapes of Byers Woods Park as part of a community art experience

On Saturday, August 22, 2020, Attorney Robert Desanto, of the Ashland County Park District and Artist Terri Meyer hosted artists from the Ohio Plein Air Society (OPAS) to capture the beautiful landscapes of Byers Woods Park, located at Township Road 1754. En Plein air is a French expression meaning “in the open air”, and refers to the act of painting outdoors direct from nature. Artists from Columbus, Cleveland, Ashland, Bucyrus, Mansfield, and Crestline gathered together to translate nature into a unique creative expression. Each artist worked in their unique style and medium.

Byers Woods Park is located on the old Ashland County landfill site. The park was made possible through lands donated to the Park District by the Ashland County Commissioners. According to the Park Commissioner, Robert Desanto, the park with its paved walking trails, numerous fishing ponds and peaceful rural scenery has become one of our most popular parks.
