Portrait Paintings
Capturing Inner Beauty one brush stroke at a time
Ohio Artist, Terri Meyer, paints portraits in watercolors and oils. Her oil painting portrait style has been influenced by Daniel Greene and Marvin Mattelson, whereas her watercolor portrait paintings are influenced by her love of Norman Rockwell paintings.
Oil portraits are painted using the old masters technique of applying layers of translucent paint from dark values to light values creating a luminous glow. However watercolor portraits are approached differently. Starting light to dark, the paint is applied in broad loose strokes with translucent watercolor paints, allowing the under layers of paint to show through. This creates a glow as each layer shows through the previous wash of color.
